Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator ICD

Cardiac surgery

Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (AICD) are used to help treat patients with arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats. The AICD can be implanted into the abdominal area or the chest, and wires are attached from the device to different parts of the heart. After surgical implantation, the AICD can restore regular heart rhythm by delivering electric pulses or shocks whenever the heart starts to beat abnormally.

The cost of Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) placement depends upon various factors such as:

  • Type and quality of defibrillator used
  • The type of hospital room preferred
  • Experience of the surgeon
  • Cost of medicines and other consumables
  • Management of post-surgery complications
  • Total duration of hospital stay
  • Rehabilitation and physical therapy costs
